Dental implants provide a strong foundation for fixed or removable replacement teeth.
Consultation
The specialist dentist will conduct a thorough examination of the area(s) requiring a dental implant. They will then discuss the treatment options with you including the costs and time frame of the full treatment.
Dental implant placement
Dental implants are placed in the jawbone. Using specialised instruments, the dentist will cut the gum to expose the bone, and then drill a hole in the bone to place the dental implant. A healing cap is placed over the implant and the gum is sutured (stitched) back over or around the dental implant site.
Follow-up appointments
You will need to return several times over the weeks and months following the dental implant to have the sutures removed, prepare the dental implant for a restoration and to complete and fit the restoration.
All details regarding the treatment will be explained to you by the specialist dentist.
