Mr Parwez is an experienced High Volume Hip, Knee Arthroplasty and Knee sports Surgeon practicing for over 15 years as a Consultant. He completed basic surgical training rotation at Aberdeen Hospital, Scotland and successfully passed the FRCS Ed in 1996. Mr Parwez completed the West Midlands Trauma and Orthopedics Higher Surgical rotation (1998-2004), during which time he completed a 2-year part time Diploma in Orthopaedic Engineering from Cardiff University (2001). He completed his FRCS (Trauma and Orthopaedics) in 2002 and has undertaken two fellowship posts, a Lower Limb Arthroplasty fellowship (Wests Suffolk Hospital 2004-2005) and a Knee Soft tissue and Arthroplasty fellowship (Avon Orthopaedic Centre 2009-2010).
Mr Parwez has practiced as a Locum Consultant at the Heart of England University Hospital NHS Trust Birmingham (2005-2009). He did Over 200 Total Hip and Total Knee Arthroplasty a year with very satisfactory outcomes.
Mr Parwez has a number of publications and has accumulated vast experience practising within the independent sector at Emerson’s Green NHS Treatment Centre, Bristol 2011-2016. Under his Clinical Leadership (2013-2016), the centre was voted “Best in the west” for total hip replacement in the Southwest region in 2013. He Introduced Partial knee replacement in that unit. It was an elective high volume surgery centre with emphasis on providing a truly patient centred care.
Mr Parwez has done over 2000 THR’s, 2000 TKR’s, over 3000 Knee Arthroscopies and over 200 ACL reconstructions apart from other Surgery since 2002. More than 1000 Total Hip, over 1000 Total knee Replacements and over 350 Partial Knee replacements are recorded on the National Joint registry with satisfactory outcome.
In 2016, he joined Luton and Dunstable University Hospital NHS trust, Bedfordshire as a Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics and is Lead for Surgical site infection, Audit, Clinical Governance and co-ordinator of the Lower limb group. He is very passionate about “zero tolerance” in case of prosthetic joint infection amongst other things to achieve an optimal outcome for all his patients.
Mr Parwez keeps his knowledge and skills updated by attending specialist society meetings, conferences, workshops, seminars and discussions with his peers. He also teaches on registrars training workshop and GP training days.
Mr Parwez is an active listener and believes in true “shared decision” making with his patients. He explains and sets expectations at a realistic achievable level leading to a high percentage of his patients achieving a highly satisfying outcome.
He believe God’s gifted joint is a unique structure and should only be replaced when absolutely necessary . He Aims for joint preserving Surgery , replacing the minimal amount possible to achieve a satisfactory outcome. It’s all the more important with a sporty, active generation and for improving life expectancy.
Mr Parwez is an avid cricketer and cyclist and member of a Local Bike club and having experienced his fair share of sporting injuries, can empathise with the desire to ‘resume normal service’ without delay. He is married and has two children who help ‘keep him on his toes’.
