Mr Mittal is a consultant obstetrician, gynaecologist and advance key hole/laparoscopic/minimal access surgeon. He is a clinical lead for out-patient/office hysteroscopy (OPH) and minimal access surgery at the West Herts NHS Trust. He also leads gynaecology risk governance. He conducts gynaecology cancer screening clinics apart from general gynaecology clinics. Mr Mittal has a long experience of more than 29 years in obstetrics and gynaecology including 17 years in the UK. During his UK training, he has worked in prestigious London hospitals including Guys and St. Thomas and Kings College Hospitals.
He has a special interest in performing advance key hole/laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery for benign gynaecological conditions and early endometrial cancers, having undertaken many years of specialist training in this field. He has been faculty on laparoscopy/Hysteroscopy training courses and workshops in UK and overseas.
He performs various laparoscopic procedures including total laparoscopic hysterectomy, myomectomy, ovarian cystectomy, endometriosis surgery, removal of C-section scar defect (Niche), ectopic pregnancy and cervical cerclage. He performs advance hysteroscopic surgery including resection of sub-mucous fibroid, endometrial ablation, TCRE and intrauterine adhesiolysis. He is also good at conventional abdominal and vaginal surgery.
He takes keen interest in teaching the trainees.
He is married to a consultant rheumatologist for 24 years and has two grown up sons. He is very passionate, sympathetic and holistic in his approach to manage clinical problems. He has utmost respect for his patients and treats them as he would like his family to be treated.
