I work independently in private practice, having been Head of Neurology for North-West London, an NHS consultant at Imperial College (Charing Cross & St Marys) and previously at St Georges and Frimley Healthcare. I left the NHS to be able to focus on effective delivery of patient care. In the NHS, I have designed and delivered services that were nationally recognised including Acute Neurology, First Fit clinics and Botox for Chronic Migraine and Movement Disorders.
My primary aim is to bring people with neurological problems/suspected problems to a point of clear diagnosis and treatment, to be supported and yet free to continue their lives without fear.
Before becoming Head of Neurology, I had managed Epilepsy services, First Fit clinic pathways and Chronic Migraine treatments.
I am also an officer in the British Army, as a specialist Consultant Advisor in Neurology, attached to 2 Medical Group (306 Hospital Support Regiment).
Most people have described me as a listener who will try to probe for details to ensure that all possibilities are explored. I generally explain things to people in a way that you will understand, dispelling unnecessary fears.
I will try to put your condition or the exploration of your symptoms into the context of your family life, your career and the effect on other things such as driving.
I grew up speaking several other languages including Spanish, French, Italian and Irish.
As I am Irish and moved to the UK in 2010, I have a very cosmopolitan and openness about me. I studied Medicine at Trinity College Dublin and completed my Doctoral Thesis MD there. I love skiing (Nordic, Alpine and Ski-touring), golf, sailing, rugby and play some tennis. I live now in the beautiful Chilterns with my wife, our two sons and our dog.
